Crochet Garden Bunny Mod

This Garden Bunny Mod is a fun way to give Baby Beth Bunny a fresh and springy look! With a few simple changes and a little inspiration from Beatrix Potter, you’ll have the sweetest tiny bunny wearing an adorable blue jacket.

This mod pattern is intended for the Baby Beth Bunny crochet pattern. The pattern is available individually, or as a Fable Baby Mod pattern – this is a companion for your original Fable patterns, allowing you to make each one of them into their corresponding baby versions!

SUPPLIES:

SPECIAL STITCHES:

color change

On the last single crochet before color change – insert hook into stitch, draw up a loop, yarn over with new color, draw through both loops on hook to complete.

INSTRUCTIONS:

LEGS

Complete legs from the Baby Beth Bunny pattern omitting overall color changes.

ARMS

Start in body color, change to blue for rounds 3-5.

BODY

Complete round 1 of the body as written, switching to blue yarn for round 2.

Rounds 2-5: Work in blue yarn switching to body color for stitches 4-5 of each round.

Round 6: (Work in blue yarn switching to body color for bolded stitches) 1 sc, dec, 2 sc, dec, 1 sc, dec, 2 sc (12)

Round 7: Switch back to body color yarn to complete round.

Complete the pattern as written, using tan or brown colored yarn for nose and mouth.

ADDING TOP STITCHES:

Insert your 7mm hook into Baby Beth Bunny’s top right shoulder. Yarn over with a new strand of blue yarn and pull through, yarn over to complete a slip stitch.

Insert your hook into the next stitch, working between the color changes, yarn over, pull up a loop, and yarn over and pull though both loops, completing a single crochet stitch onto the surface.

Continue working along the edge of the jacket, across the back, then up the other side on the front. Work a slip stitch at the top corner of the 2nd shoulder. Fasten off and weave in ends.
