Fable Baby Vest Crochet Pattern
If you’re looking for an adorable accessory for your Fable Babies, you’ve come to the right place! This baby-sized vest crochet pattern is the perfect fit for all of your Fable Baby friends! It whips up super quick making a perfect addition to your crochet gifts and market makes.

These little vests add an interactive element to your Fable Baby makes – they’re easily removable so they can be swapped out for different colors and textures. They fit all of the baby animals in the Fable Collection series – even Millie Chicken and friends, despite her chunky little wings!

SUPPLIES:
- Size 6 super bulky weight yarn
- Your favorite Fable Baby friend
- 7 mm crochet hook
- Stitch markers
- Scissors
NOTES:
- This vest will fit all of the baby sized animals in the Fable Collection.
- The vest is worked in rows using FLO stitches to shape the back, then worked around the perimeter on either side to create arm holes and panels for the front of the vest.
- It is recommended to use the same size hook, brand of yarn, and crochet method for both your Fable Baby animal and vest. This will ensure a proper fit and consistent look.
ABBREVIATIONS:
(US Crochet Terms)
ch – chain
FLO – front loop only
FO – fasten off
inc – 2 sts in same st
sc – single crochet
st(s) – stitch(es)
INSTRUCTIONS:
BACK OF VEST
Ch 5
Row 1: Starting in 2nd ch from the hook, sc 4 into back bumps, ch 1, turn (4)
Row 2: FLO: inc, sc 2, inc, ch 1, turn (6)
Row 3: FLO: inc x 2, sc 2, inc x 2, ch 1, turn (10)
Row 4: FLO sc across, ch 1, turn (10)
Row 5: FLO sc across (10)
Do not cut yarn, continue to next steps.
ARM HOLES AND SIDE PANELS
Place st markers into the spaces on either end of rows 3-4, making sure they are level from side to side.
For row 6, you will turn your work sideways and crochet into the st spaces back along the sides of rows 5-4, working a final sc into the marked space. Skip rows 2-1 to make a chain, then sc across the top. Repeat down the other side. NOTE: work through single loops only.
Row 6: 3 sc, ch 6, FLO 4 sc, ch 6, 3 sc, ch 1, turn. (10)
Row 7: (Working into row 6 sts) FLO 3 sc, 6 sc into ch, FLO 4 sc, 6 sc into ch, FLO 3 sc, ch 1, turn (22) (NOTE: If needed, insert hook through two loops on last st to smooth the corner.
Row 8: (Working into row 7 sts) FLO sc around (22)
FO, weave in ends.
