Mini Mabel Hatching Egg Crochet Pattern
It’s finally here! Mini Mabel Chicken has her own little hatching egg! This sweet little addition is just what the Mabel family needed. This tiny little chicken fits perfectly inside and makes a great interactive toy for kids or market makes.

SUPPLIES:
- Size 6 Super Bulky yarn (13.2yds/18g).
- I used Bernat Blanket yarn in the color Vanilla.
- 8 mm crochet hook
- Stitch markers
- Yarn needle
- Scissors
NOTES:
- Use a stitch marker at the start of each round for placement.
- This pattern is worked in continuous rounds. Do not join rounds or turn your work.
- I recommend matching the brand/weight of yarn used for the nest to your Mini Mabel Chicken. This will ensure a snug fit and a more consistent look.
- You can use a different weight of yarn for this pattern, adjusting to the appropriate hook size, but the size of the finished product will be different.
- Increase stitch (inc) – 2 sc in the same st
ABBREVIATIONS:
mc – magic circle
st(s) – stitch(es)
sc – single crochet
sl st – slip stitch
inc – 2 sc in the same st
FO – fasten off
EGG INSTRUCTIONS:
START WITH THE BOTTOM HALF OF THE EGG
Round 1: 6 sc in mc (6)
Round 2: inc around (12)
Round 3: (3 sc, inc) x 3 (15)
Rounds 4-6: sc around (15) (3 rounds)
FO, weave in ends and set aside.
TOP HALF OF EGG
Round 1: 4 sc in mc (4)
Round 2: inc around (8)
Round 3: (sc, inc) x 4 (12)
Round 4: (3 sc, inc) x 3 (15)
Rounds 5-6: sc around (15) (2 rounds)
Do not cut yarn. Continue to next steps to attach top and bottom of egg.
ATTACHING TOP AND BOTTOM
With the top half of the egg still on your hook, insert your hook through any st on the bottom half and work 6 sl sts though both halves to create a hinge.
FO and weave in ends.
Your Mini Mabel Egg is complete!
