  • Use a stitch marker at the start of each round for placement.
  • This pattern is worked in continuous rounds. Do not join rounds or turn your work.
  • I recommend matching the brand/weight of yarn used for the nest to your Mini Mabel Chicken. This will ensure a snug fit and a more consistent look.
  • You can use a different weight of yarn for this pattern, adjusting to the appropriate hook size, but the size of the finished product will be different.
  • Increase stitch (inc) – 2 sc in the same st

mc – magic circle

st(s) – stitch(es)

sc – single crochet

sl st – slip stitch

inc – 2 sc in the same st

dc – double crochet

FO – fasten off

BLO – back loop only

Round 1: 6 sc in mc (6)

Round 2: inc around (12)

Round 3: (2 sc, inc) x 4 (16)

Round 4: BLO around (16)

Round 5: (dc, sl st) x 8 (16)

Cut yarn, and pull through, leaving a 6” tail for the INVISIBLE FINISH step.

After completing the final round, the optional ‘invisible finish’ (sometimes called invisible fasten off) step creates a seamless transition between the last and first stitches.

1: With a yarn needle, bring finishing tail through top loops of the second st of the final round, from front to back.

2: Bring tail through back loop only of the last st from the final round, from front to back.

3: Pull gently until tail forms a new set of “top loops”. FO and weave in ends.
