Mini Marvin Rooster Mod

If you love crocheting Mini Mabel chickens, you’ll adore this Mini Marvin Rooster Mod! This free crochet modification transforms the Mini Mabel from my Mama and Mini Mabel pattern into a little rooster, complete with all the details from the original Marvin mod – but tiny! In this post, you’ll get the step-by-step details so you can create your own mini rooster!

A while ago, I created a modification to turn the popular Mabel Chicken into a rooster named Marvin. Recently, I noticed a friend on Instagram, (Karen from Kami Goodies), had been making the cutest Mini Mabels with a scaled down version of my Marvin mod. I was obsessed! These little baby roosters were just the cutest! No surprise, everything Karen makes is pure magic. She’s been making the most beautiful Mabels for quite a while now—you’ll definitely want to check out her Instagram to see her gorgeous work HERE!

Check out Karen’s ADORABLE Mini Marvins! It’s no wonder these little cuties stopped me in my tracks!

Karen also designs the most incredible printables for handmade crochet pieces – you’ll have to read on to get the details on something super cute for your Mini Mabel makes!

NOTES:

  • For this post, I used a 7mm hook, rather than the 8mm called for in the original pattern. Keep in mind, this will make your finished chicken come out slightly smaller.
  • I used 10mm eyes for my Mini Marvin.
  • There is a YouTube video link for adding the blanket yarn comb to my Mini Mabels. I use a different method to close up the body to make it easier to add the comb. You can check out the video HERE before completing your Mini Mabel body.
