Crochet Chicken Pattern Roundup

If there’s one thing I’ve learned from designing crochet patterns, it’s that chickens have a way of capturing hearts! Ever since Mabel Chicken made her debut, she’s been a favorite among makers—particularly for market makes, where her sweet, squishy shape never fails to bring a smile. Over time, I’ve added new members to the crochet chicken pattern flock, along with fun freebies and modifications to give each one its own personality.

In this roundup, you’ll find all of my crochet chicken patterns in one place! I’ve included links to all the available pattern mods and freebies, so you can customize your next crochet chicken however you like!

The Crochet Chicken Pattern Lineup

Before we get into the details for each of the Mabel family members… I thought I’d start with covering the three different Mabel body sizes. There is the Original Mabel Chicken (middle size), then the Mama (Larger size), and last but not least – the Mini Mabel! The Mama and Mini Mabel are sold together and are written into one PDF. You can pick up a bundle with all three in my shop (Mabel Chicken™ CROCHET PATTERN (BUNDLE).

1: Original Mabel Chicken

Mabel was the little chicken that started it all! I remember finishing my very first Mabel and falling love with her squat little body and tiny head. Sitting at my desk, little chicken in hand, I was filled with so much joy – but had no idea if this simple little pattern would be loved by others. It turns out crochet chickens are a thing! Mabel took off, becoming a popular and well-loved crochet make from beginners to experienced makers!

2: Mama and Mini Mabel

After many requests for both a larger and smaller version of the Mabel Chicken pattern, I finally designed the Mama and Mini! Mama Mabel is a big, squishy, huggable size. Mini Mabel is a tiny version, complete with a sweet little tuft of fuzz! These two make the perfect pair, and complete the family of three sizes – the Mabel Chicken™ Crochet Pattern BUNDLE (including all three sizes) is available in my shop.
